RDA Study Materials – Patient Screening and Education

$75.00

Approximately 15% of the RDA exam is on Patient Assessment and Diagnostic Records.  This section comprehensively covers everything you need to know about the general health of the patient and how it relates to dentistry.  It includes reviewing the patient’s health history, various patient records, patient management, medical emergencies, and the mouth mirror inspection.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the components and purpose of a complete patient assessment, including medical/dental histories, vital signs, and factors that affect dental treatment.
  2. Accurately obtain, update, and document patient information in compliance with California laws, the Dental Practice Act, and HIPAA requirements.
  3. Identify normal and abnormal clinical findings and recognize when conditions must be brought to the supervising dentist’s attention.
  4. Properly chart and record existing conditions, treatments, and clinical observations using standard dental symbols, terminology, and documentation guidelines.
  5. Communicate relevant patient information to the dental team while maintaining infection control, safety protocols, and professional standards.
