Welcome to the Patient Assessment module of the DA Certificate Program!    In this module you will learn all about how the mouth is connected to the rest of the body and how they influence each other.  What diseases/conditions have implications in the oral cavity?  ALMOST ALL OF THEM in one way or another!  What about various drugs/medications?  Do they affect the mouth and teeth?  You bet!  This module is so much fun as we learn to start communicating with our patients and assessing their medical and dental needs.  You will also learn how to take vital signs and how to manage dental and medical emergencies in the dental office.

Once you have completed this module, you will receive your California Dental X-Ray Certificate/License!

The lecture (didactic) portion of the class is online as with all other modules.  In the lab portion of this course you will learn how to take x-rays on a manikin head.  Then you will need FOUR live patients!  These patients must be 14 or older and must not have had extensive radiation from other sources, nor had an FMX (full mouth x-ray series - 18 x-rays at once) from their dental office recently.

Welcome to the DPA and Practice Management module of the DA Certificate Program!    DPA stands for Dental Practice Act - this is the book of laws and regulations that govern dentistry in California.  Don't worry - you won't be reading or memorizing a boring book, but it is important for all ADHPs to have a good handle on dental law and ethics!  And you will be receiving one of your mandatory certificates for dental assistants in this module.  In addition, you will learn some "front desk" duties such as scheduling patients, processing claim forms, and taking payments.
