Plumas District Hospital – Foundations of Clinical Dentistry – Phase I

$600.00

This training program is a customized program written by RDA4U (with guidance by Plumas personnel) for entry level dental assistants at Plumas District Hospital.  This training program includes all of the coursework and hands-on training necessary to prepare a novice new hire to be a skilled and effective member of the dental healthcare team.

The didactic (lecture) components within this program will be delivered via pre-recorded podcast videos, worksheets for use while watching the videos, quizzes after each video for self-assessment and review, and a final exam for each of the three phases.  At the completion of each phase, students will meet with RDA4U faculty for lab and clinical skill practice and assessment.

This education and training program will be accomplished in three phases:

  • Phase one – Onboarding phase
    • Phase one will include new hire OSHA and Infection Control requirements and an introduction to dentistry and dental assisting.
  • Phase two – Dental assisting on common procedures
    • Phase two will prepare the students to start assisting with common dental procedures including composite restorations, impressions, dentures, and extractions.
  • Phase three – Radiation Safety Certification
    • Phase three will be the radiation safety certification course. This course is approved by the Dental Board of California and includes all required didactic components, lab practice on a manikin, and assistance with the four clinical patients required for certification.
