Coronal Polish Certification

Coronal Polish is now a DA duty.  This means that once you complete this course, you can immediately continue to use this certification instead of waiting until you become an RDA.

The didactic portion of this course is online via podcast videos, online quizzes, and a final exam. Once you have passed the final exam online, the lab & clinical portions of this course will be completed in our office in Roseville.

1. Understand the science and purpose of coronal polishing, including the anatomy of the tooth surface, types of deposits and stains, and how polishing contributes to overall oral health and patient care.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of California laws and Dental Board of California regulations governing coronal polishing, including who may perform the procedure, required supervision levels, and the legal responsibilities associated with this certification.

3. Identify indications and contraindications for coronal polishing and select the appropriate materials, pastes, and techniques to provide safe, effective, and patient-specific care.

4. Develop proficiency in performing coronal polishing procedures, including proper fulcruming, handpiece control, cup and bristle selection, sequence of polishing, and techniques to minimize operator fatigue and patient discomfort.

5. Apply proper infection control, equipment handling, and patient safety practices—including PPE, aseptic technique, handpiece maintenance, instrument setup, and post-procedure protocols—to ensure compliance with California standards.

At the successful completion of both the didactic and lab portions of this course, you will receive your Coronal Polish Certification.
